Friends Annual Meeting


National Parks Centennial Celebration at Friends of Hackmatack National Wildlife Refuge Gathering America’s Most Decorated Junior Ranger Aida Frey is Featured Speaker RICHMOND, IL- The public is invited to join the Friends of Hackmatack National Wildlife Refuge at their December Friends Gathering. The event will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the National Park System. The night’s featured speaker is 15-year-old Aida Frey, who is the most decorated U.S. National Park Service junior ranger. Aida, who is a sophomore at Jacobs High School in Algonquin, Illinois, has visited over 250 National Park Service sites and engaged in their junior ranger activities. She has written a book about her adventures entitled America, Can I Have Your Autograph? The Story of Junior Ranger Aida Frey. Aida will talk about her travels and the fun she has visiting parks, monuments and historical sites. Diane Banta, from the National Park Service’s Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance program will kick off the night’s program sharing information on the Park Service and its Centennial year initiatives, activities and celebrations. Friends will gather from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, December 13 at McHenry County Conservation District’s Lost Valley Visitor Center in Glacial Park, located on Harts Rd, west off of Rt. 31 south of Richmond, Illinois.

We celebrated Mary McLeod Bethune's 141st Birthday on July 10th, 2016 in Washington D.C.!! I was with my Ranger friends, Buddy Bison and many,many new cool friends from the D.C. area!




 I am at Washington D.C.'s Lincoln Park at the Mary McLeod Bethune statue; with my longtime friend and mentor Chief Ranger Margaret; with my new friend National Park Trust Executive Director Grace! I LOVE WASHINGTON D.C.!!!!!!!

NHPA 50

"On July 24th we are celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), featuring the state of Oklahoma, and a special Jr. Ranger program with a booklet to accompany the NHPA celebration. Visiting on this day will be Super Junior Ranger Aida Frey who has visited over 235 parks and continues to inspire youth to preserve the nation's special places."


I am so excited to be announcing that I will be attending this wonderful event at Washita Battlefield National Historic Site this summer! Make sure you stop by if you're near and say hi!
